PhoneView supports updating background images Cisco Unified IP Phone models mentioned here: https://www.unifiedfx.com/products/unifiedfx-phoneview
This is ideal for "branding" of a department/site or organisation, using PhoneView any number of phone backgrounds can be updated in a single operation filtered with multiple criteria including DevicePool, Location, Department etc.
Uniquely PhoneView provides the ability see the screen of multiple phones at the same time, this allows the user to quickly verify the correct background image is deployed.
PhoneView provides two methods for bulk updating phone backgrounds:
- Key press Macro - pressing a sequence of keys to select the appropriate background image
- Personalization - using the same method as "Cisco Phone Designer" to push a background image directly to the phone
Key press Macro
This method works for both CUCME & CUCM and involves recording a sequence of actions (i.e. selecting background image 2), creating a macro from that sequence by selecting the actions from the "Activity Log" in PhoneView, right-click and choose "Create Macro". The macro is populated in the command bar making it available to send to any selected phones, thus changing their background.
It is still nessesary to manually upload the background image to the TFTP Server before sending the macro, a good article on how to do this can be found here:
Personalization
This requires CUCM Version 6.0 or above and leverages the phone personalization feature introduced with the "Cisco Phone Designer Widget". The personalization feature is disabled by default but can be enabled globally in "Enterprise Parameters", a reset of the IP Phone will allow this setting to take effect.
