Backup
1. Stop the old WallboardFX instance
On the Wallboard host PC, open the Windows Services MSC and find the "Unified FX Service Host" service. Right Click and select Stop.
2. Copy the WallboardFX database file
Copy the following file to a backup location that can be accessed from the new machine at a later point (such as a network share):
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\UnifiedFX\WallboardFX\ufx.wallboardfx.db
Restore
1. Install WallboardFX on the new machine
You can download the latest version installer from our website: https://www.unifiedfx.com/wallboardfx-download
Follow the setup wizard to install
Part of the installation will require you assign a port number for the WallboardFX service, enter a port number appropriately and test to make sure it is available for use by the application.
When the installation completes, it will automatically open a browser session to the application.
2. Activate the new WallboardFX Instance
WallboardFX has two methods of activation: Online and Offline.
2a. Online Activation
Access the application's webpage by browsing to localhost and the port number you specified during setup. You should be brought to the license section by default.
Enter your license key and click the Install button to activate.
2b. Offline Activation
If you are a customer where the WallboardFX Instance does not connect to the internet for activation, you will need to apply your static license.xml file at this point and may need to request a new one. Please do so by raising a support ticket or contacting support@unifiedfx.com quoting the following:
- your WallboardFX license key
- the MAC address of the new PC
Copy it to the following folder before starting Windows service:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\UnifiedFX\WallboardFX\
Please remember to rename the file (if required) to license.xml once placed in the above path.
3. Transferring the Database file to the new Instance
Stop WallboardFX Windows Service ("Unified FX Service Host") on new system. A template/blank database file will already be present. Copy and replace the database file from old system to new system (same location):
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\UnifiedFX\WallboardFX\
4. Initialize the new WallboardFX instance
After copying the .db file over (and license if required), start the WallboardFX Windows Service ("Unified FX Service Host") on the new PC.
Browse to the your wallboard instance on a web browser, and login with the same credentials used in your previous instance.
Once you've logged in, confirm that the information is accurate and configuration for your displays has been transferred.
After confirming the information has been transferred successfully, you can uninstall WallboardFX from the old instance.
